Obama - O Canada!

So today was the big day - Canada's moment in the sunlight in the world o' Obama. For one day everyone will look @ us and bask in the awe of the mighty might of Prime Minister Stephen Harper [and he will look back with fond affection and a hearty man crush on Barack Obama]. Well, maybe people will learn his name? Or that Ottawa is our capital? Or what our flag looks like? Hmmm...it's far more likely that nothing much of consequence will happen and CNN will spell our nations capital thusly - OTTOWA [and leave this up on the screen for an entire remote with wee Ed Henry who was still in Canada @ 10:30pm - six hours after Obama left - I think he likes us...he really likes us]. But, none of it matters much as pretty much the whole of Canada is tickled pink with Barack Obama and the fact that he and America are paying any attention to us at all [we really are the true nation of cowards - all we want is for our big brother to spend some time with us instead of him spending all his time roughhousing with other cooler countries].

I did find it a bit amusing @ all of the gravitas being put into this situation. A six hour visit to the country that is geographically closest to Washington. This is why Obama came here...that and we enjoy a healthy trade relationship and we like kissing up [so please - come and enjoy our delicious fried treats! on the house!]. But really, it was hardly deserving of treatment reminiscent of Nixon opening up talks with China. Also, I'm not entirely sure why Obama had to bring his big beast car - we're Canada - we're not serious. We like hugs [not me, but Canadians in general are quite affectionate].

Apparently they talked about the environment and how Canada sucks because of our oil sands [yes, we do suck because of this - but America, you suck for disregarding global warming most of the time and for earnestly believing and promoting the ideal that coal = clean energy]. However, I'm not sure what the results of these talks are - but I hope that Obama apologized on behalf of America for saying that they give a lot of money to nations that don't like them very much in exchange for oil [Canada supplies the majority of America's foreign oil and seriously - we like you guys - I was so befuddled by those comments during the Presidential campaign]. Also they talked about the economy - like how we are all boned. For my American readers - why yes, we are just as boned as you are, if not a bit more. You see, we rely upon your auto companies and retailers and everything else. If things start to go tits up down south these corporations are far more likely to leave Canada than they are to close up shop in America.

So please America - now that you've seen us and know that we love you - please remember to be kind to Canada - we are your hat!
